Honors options abroad with USAC
Did you know that USAC offers two pathways to earn honors credit while studying abroad on select Specialty Programs?
If you are currently a member of an undergraduate honors college or honors program at your home university, you can take your honors experience global by enrolling in an honors-eligible course as part of your USAC study abroad program, or you can design a custom honors-contract course in consultation with your honors advisor and USAC.
Honors contract courses
Honors contract courses allow you to earn honors credit at your home university by completing an additional project or enhanced academic experience connected to a Specialty course that is not formally designated for honors credit through USAC.
Honors contracts are developed in consultation with your honors advisor and USAC, and are designed to provide deeper academic engagement, applied learning, and student ownership.
Students interested in pursuing an honors contract course should consult with their home university’s honors program before coordinating with USAC.
Honors-eligible courses
If you are in good academic standing with your home university's honors program, you may earn honors credit by enrolling in a USAC Specialty course listed as honors-eligible, and completing supplemental honors requirements outlined in the course syllabus.
Aligned with the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) definition of honors education, these courses are designed to provide opportunities for hands-on learning, critical thinking, and meaningful reflection.
