Application and eligibility
Starting your study abroad adventure begins with our step-by-step application process — and we're here to help!
Whether you're looking for a specific destination, language immersion, or courses that fit your degree, there's a program for you.
All USAC programs have minimum eligibility requirements, and some programs may have additional criteria. Be sure to review the requirements for your chosen program before applying.
USAC reviews applications on a rolling basis until the application deadline. Early application is encouraged as some programs fill quickly.
The application process
- Ensure you meet the eligibility requirements for your program.
- Fill out the online application.
- 1-2 business days after you submit, you'll receive your login credentials to acces your USAC Student Gateway portal where you'll finish your application.
- Apply for a passport, if you don't already have one.
- Complete your application in the USAC Student Gatway portal.
- This includes submitting a brief personal statement, signed program and financial agreements, conduct form, academic transcript(s), and home institution approval.
- Visit your campus study abroad office for information on your institution's policies related to international travel, transfer credit, and using financial aid.
- USAC will review your application.
- If approved, you'll receive an official admission offer via email within 3 business days of receiving your complete application.
- Accept your spot in the program!
- Submit the $500 enrollment confirmation deposit, which will apply toward your program fee.
- The deposit is fully refundable until the balance due deadline.
Applying for multiple programs
Please do not submit multiple applications for the same term. If you're interested in more than one program, apply for your first-choice program now. If needed, we can discuss other options later.
Planning to study abroad more than once in the same year? Student visa requirements may affect whether you can participate in back-to-back programs in different countries. Please contact USAC before applying to more than one program.
