Staying with a host family is an excellent way to immerse yourself in the culture and language. Your family will welcome you into their home and provide you with a single room, breakfast and dinner daily, also a weekly laundry is included. The families are located within a 20 to 30-minute commute to the university and are located along different traditional neighborhoods of Montevideo that have plenty of cafeterías, parks and plazas. Host families will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. We recommend this option if your priority is to learn the language as quickly as possible.

The Habit

The Habit Apartments is a residence hall located in the center of Montevideo. The area is comprised of locals and students, making it a lively neighborhood with bustling student life. Apartments are shared with other USAC students, with local students living in the residence hall as well. The apartments have private and double rooms with a shared bathroom, and include an air fryer, fridge, electric kitchen, and Wi-Fi internet.

The Lorax

The Lorax residence hall is located in central Montevideo and next to the Tres Cruces terminal, making transportation very easy for students. Apartments are shared with other USAC students, with local students living in the residence hall as well. Rooms are shared, with a shared bathroom, and include an air fryer, fridge, electric kitchen, and Wi-Fi internet.
