If you have questions about the academics or courses available on this program, locate the Program Advisor to email them your questions directly.

Studying abroad can be a more meaningful and invigorating learning experience than at home—both inside and outside of the classroom. You may be more curious and alert than you usually are so use this heightened energy to enhance your studies as well as your cultural and geographical explorations. You may also encounter different teaching styles and course processes; be prepared to adapt and to learn.

Academics

USAC's partnership with Deakin University provides you with a wide array of course options including the opportunity for qualified year-long students with junior standing or higher to participate in a credit-bearing internship as part of their full-time course load. You are required to enroll in the equivalency of 12-16 U.S. credits per semester. Students on USAC's program enroll in regular Deakin University classes alongside their Australian peers. Courses are subject to availability and approval of prerequisites which are determined by Deakin University. Deakin University is AACSB and ABET accredited.

Streamlined Trimester Packages

Deakin is now offering trimester packages made up of units that are pre-selected by faculty based on their strength and appeal to international students. As they are already pre-approved they also ensure a speedier admissions process since they don’t require prerequisites. Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, Digital Communications, Creative Writing and Literary Texts, Global Business, Sport Science, and Australiana are just some of the exciting packages offered.

Internships

Qualified year-long students may apply to take part in Deakin University's internship program. Deakin works closely with you to make your experiences valuable and ensure that placements are beneficial for all parties. Internship courses are offered through the Faculty of Business and Law, and through the Faculty of Arts and Education in the areas of journalism, public relations, communication and creative arts, history, and sociology. Internships are structured, credit-bearing placements that would be one of the four courses taken in a given trimester. You are required to research and locate your own host organization for the internship with guidance provided by Deakin.
