Field Trips for Pau, France
You are encouraged to participate in the organized field trips, which are included in your program fees. These excursions generally take place on weekends. In addition to the including program field trips, you'll also have field trips as part of many of your courses and have numerous informal activities that expose you to the local culture as well. Destinations may change at the discretion of the Resident Director.
The following are possible destinations, view term calendars for specifics.

This trip begins with a visit to the Béret Museum in the town of Nay to see how the famous French berets are made and to try a few on! During the afternoon, we will enjoy a breathtaking hike through the amazing Pyrenean landscape to the mountain lake, Lac de Gaube.

This visit to one of the best known and most beautiful French cities includes a guided tour as well as a chance to spend some time in the Old Quarter with its splendid eighteenth-century facades, riverfront, and animated shopping streets.

Discover the beautiful landscape of one of the mountain valleys south of Pau and visit the city of Jaca in the Spanish Pyrenees, known for its beautiful medieval architecture.

This trip features a guided tour of the picturesque Basque city of Bayonne before we go to Biarritz, the most famous seaside resort in the area where Queen Victoria and the Empress Eugenie often visited.

Tour St.-Jean-de-Port, one of the most picturesque towns in the Basque country, and visit St.-Jean-de-Luz, a charming fishing and resort village along the coast. See the church where Louis XIV got married and enjoy some free time on the beautiful beach.

This day trip includes a morning stop at the Pyrenees Animal Park to see the wildlife of the mountains. During the afternoon, the group will go to one of the most stunning mountain valleys and waterfalls to hike through a mountain village and admire the spectacular scenery.

This visit to Carcassonne, one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe, includes a guided tour of the Château Comtal and the fortified medieval city. In Toulouse, we will spend the night and enjoy this city, known for its architecture of rose brick buildings, the Romanesque Basilique of St. Sernin, and the Augustinian Monastery.
