You are encouraged to participate in university activities, student-led societies, and sports clubs as a way to balance your personal interests and academic endeavors while abroad.

The University of Brighton has many sports clubs you can join including soccer, netball, cricket, baseball, and basketball. The University also has a sports centre located on the Falmer campus, and a gym at the Moulsecoomb campus, where you can use the gym facilities and take part in various fitness classes that run throughout the week.

There are also student-led societies that you can join to meet people with shared interests or learn about something new. Options range from pop culture to sports to faith-based societies. The list is constantly changing because if students can’t find a society that’s right for them, they can set one up! Campus cultural life also includes the university choir, orchestra, music, and drama groups.

  • Attend welcome events and get involved with the Brighton Students’ Union, offering more than 100 student-led societies: from crafts to sports to religious groups.
  • Taste locally-caught fish and chips along the boardwalk.
  • Tour the lavish Royal Pavilion for a glimpse into Brighton’s past.
  • Ride the Brighton Wheel for a scenic view of the city’s coastline.
  • Browse an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, and cafés located in Brighton’s historic quarter, The Lanes.

  • Hike or cycle along the Undercliff Walk.
  • Cheer on the local Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club at the stadium nearby.
