Where did you study abroad?
My first experience with study abroad was as a Resident Director. Through this experience, I was able to take students to multiple locations including Italy, Spain, Greece, and Morocco.
How did you get into the field of International Education?
I previously worked in student affairs as a housing professional and Resident Director. After having the opportunity to be a Resident Director overseas, I knew that International Education provides the premier student experience in a university setting.
What's your favorite thing about working for USAC?
I never studied abroad as a student because I incorrectly believed that study abroad was reserved only for affluent individuals. Had I known about USAC and the fact that it truly is affordable, my college experience may have been totally different. My favorite thing about working for USAC is helping all students afford this life changing experience.
What is your favorite memory from your time abroad?
I had the opportunity to visit my ancestral hometown in the Czech Republic. I didn’t expect to have as many emotions as I did. It was truly a beautiful moment.
What is your favorite place you have traveled to and why?
Egypt! I have always loved the mystery and magic of ancient Egypt. To see the Great Pyramids was a childhood dream come true. I also really enjoyed the modern-day culture of Egypt and was lucky enough to attend an Egyptian wedding which was one of the most memorable cultural experiences I’ve ever had abroad.
If you could go on any USAC program, what would it be and why?
I would go to either Bengaluru, India or Khon Kaen, Thailand. I love exploring locations outside of Europe and these two look fantastic!
What is your funniest travel memory?
I got on the wrong train in Italy once. I sadly got on a slow train as opposed to the fast train to Naples. Whoops!
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, you’ll find me surfing, hiking, skiing, or in the process of restoring an old Volkswagen Vanagon.
