Yearlong study abroad students have the opportunity to earn an interdisciplinary certificate in Irish studies.

Certificate in Irish Studies

Students sitting on the lawn at University College Cork campus in Cork, Ireland.The Certificate in Irish Studies is a yearlong interdisciplinary program that provides a comprehensive overview of the rich, indigenous Irish cultural tradition over two millennia. Those pursuing the Certificate in Irish Studies will select modules totaling 50 UCC credits (approximately 30 U.S. credits) across the entire academic year. The modules primarily reflect the earlier cultures of Ireland, but also with reference to Scotland and Wales. The contributing departments at UCC are Early and Medieval Irish, Modern Irish, Archaeology, History, and Folklore.

Students pursuing the Certificate will enroll in a set of core modules, totaling 30-35 UCC credits (approximately 18-21 U.S. credits). They are free to select their remaining credits (15-20 UCC credits) from an approved list of electives, subject to availability and approval.
