Internships for Lüneburg, Germany
USAC internships abroad are a great way to enhance your educational experience. Participating in a structured work or research experience with an international organization, whether in-person or virtually, will help you gain valuable skills and hands-on experience while expanding your professional network and immersing yourself in the workplace culture of Germany.
A $985 internship placement fee will be required of all students participating in an in-person USAC internship. This fee helps offset the costs of securing quality internship placements and helps provide a range of professional development activities, including an online internship seminar, career workshops, and panel discussions.

Internships in Lüneburg require six semesters of college German unless otherwise noted.

Business
A business association representing 65,000 member companies and their political, economic, and administrative interests by advising on relevant economic matters, offering support and professional education opportunities, and serving as a platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences.
- Format/Terms available: In-Person | Semester
- Requirements: Six semesters of college-level German, or equivalent
- Sample Work Responsibilities
- Assist in research regarding trade relations
- Contribute to written reports
- Participate in forums and presentations
- Gain insight into different types of German businesses, legal structures, business standards, customs, and norms
Engineering
A tech center and manufacturing company producing adhesives, sealants, and other specialty chemical products used in electronics, disposable hygiene, medical, transportation, clean energy, packaging, construction, woodworking, general industries and other consumer businesses and products.

- Requirements: Two semesters of college-level German, or equivalent
- Sample Work Responsibilities
- Assist engineers and get to know the entire value chain from raw material to adhesive
- Work with raw materials and gain knowledge about different types (i.e. waxes, polymers)
- Assist in taking specific measurements,
- Produce a TPHMA/lab scale and determine physical properties to characterize TPHMA (R&B softening point, viscosity, bonding performances, open and setting time, SAFT/PAFT values)
Engineering
A theoretical and experimental research lab that collaborates with national and international universities, research institutions, and companies in projects focusing on the fundamentals and applications of control systems.

- Requirements: Experience with MatLab, Simulink, Python, or Octave required. Knowledge of Control Systems and System Theory Identification.
- Sample Work Responsibilities
- Modeling and control of Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) focusing on Sliding Mode Control and Model Predictive Control.
- Kalman Filter Using Wavelet Packets to obtain observations combining time and frequency information to identify states and parameters of technical systems such as Electrical Machines, Metal-Polymer Soft Actuators, Hydraulic Systems.
- Modelling, identification and control of thermal systems (Peltiers cells) focusing on Inverted Pendulum, Tank Systems, Segway and different electrical motors interfaced with dedicated hardware and software.
- Using Matlab/Simulink to simulate different technical processes
English-Language Instruction
Public high schools located throughout Lüneburg that offer academic and vocational training and certifications.

- Sample Work Responsibilities
- Shadowing English teachers and assisting in classroom instruction
- Lead lessons in English and other content areas such as math, geography, etc.
- Develop an understanding of the cultural as well as structural differences in education, teaching methods, lesson planning, etc.
