Person riding a motorcycle on the cobblestone streets in the city of Santiago, Chile. One of the largest income-generating industries in Chile is tourism and all that is related to this major business. Hospitality, extreme sports, cultural events, wine production, natural vast landmarks and a diverse contrast in climate, landscape, and culture between north and south make Chile a desirable attraction not only for neighboring countries but also visitors worldwide.

Santiago (population 6 million) is a city of contrasts: historic areas stand side-by-side with modern urbanism; plazas and parks are oases amid the metropolis. Leading Chile's considerable cultural endeavors, Santiago boasts symphony orchestras, major dance companies, a host of professional theatre groups, a full slate of concerts and movie theaters, and attractive local markets. Tempt your taste buds with Chile's tasty cuisine, which incorporates seafood from its long-stretching coastline, fresh meats, and abundant fruits and vegetables.
