Disability Accommodations

USAC is dedicated to working closely with students with disabilities to ensure the best study abroad experience possible. You may request reasonable accommodations after your initial application is complete. We routinely receive requests for scheduling, material, and environmental accommodations for the classroom setting, which may include assistive technology, scribes and readers, printed material, and interpretation. Mobility accommodations, including access to buildings or transportation assistance, have also been requested at program sites. Dietary accommodations are feasible for some housing situations.

Don’t hesitate to ask, but please understand the availability of accommodation varies from program site to program site. Your request will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

It is common for USAC to receive requests regarding a student’s condition(s), including, but not limited to:

  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Blind/Low vision
  • Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Dyslexia
  • Learning disabilities
  • Motor limitation
  • Physical condition or injury

To make your request, your home university disability resource center or physician must complete a Disability Accommodation Request Form. You may download the form through your Gateway account under the Health & Safety Documents section. The completed form must be emailed to health@usac.edu.
