Located in Southeast Asia, Vietnam shares borders with China to the north, Laos and Cambodia to the west. The Gulf of Thailand, Gulf of Tonkin and the South China Sea border the rest of the country, offering many accessible travel destinations.
Much of the population is Vietnamese, but the people are also influenced by Chinese, Hmong, Thai, Khmer, and Cham nationalities. While Vietnam’s culture is traditionally based on the concept of “humanity and harmony,” a token of wisdom from the indigenous Đông Sơn culture, it has developed over the centuries under the influence of Chinese culture.

Vietnam’s economy is based largely in agriculture — primarily wet rice cultivation and cashew nut, black pepper, rice, and coffee exports.

Vietnam offers many scenic and cultural attractions, including the cultured Hanoi capital in the north and the energetic Ho Chi Minh City in the south. Along with many national parks, UNESCO World Heritages sites, and laid-back beaches surrounded by the tropical island Phu Quoc, this southeast Asian nation does not disappoint in diverse offerings.
