On-Site Staff for Lüneburg, Germany
The Lüneburg program has a Resident Director (RD) who is responsible for the overall operations of the program abroad, including securing appropriate student housing, hiring outstanding faculty, organizing exciting field trips and optional tours, and overseeing your general well-being.
Meet the Resident Director
Dr. David Gilland has lived in Lüneburg with his family since 2011. Originally from Tennessee, he studied Political Science, French, and Logistics at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. After graduating, David spent a year teaching English in France and several years working in the Port of Charleston. He began his theological studies in 2002, culminating in a doctorate in 2010 from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. As a faculty member at Leuphana University in Lüneburg and the Technische Universität in Braunschweig, Germany, he has taught courses (in both English and German) on the Middle Ages, Reformation, Modern Theology and Ethics. David loves being outdoors and also plays bass in several local bands. He is fluent in German, English, and French.
David will meet the group flight at the airport, organize transportation to your housing, and provide the mandatory on-site orientation and additional support and resources while you are on the program.
