Specialty Programs have an on-site Resident Director (RD) who provides comprehensive support to students throughout their study abroad experience. RDs are responsible for the academic curriculum and faculty.
RD Carlos "Carlitos" Oviedo has been working with USAC since 1999. He is a Costa Rica native who loves working with people, traveling the world, and enjoying outdoor activities. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and also speaks basic Italian. He holds a master’s degree in Educational Administration, and has completed graduate work at Universidad Nacional in Exercise Physiology. He is currently furthering his education by working toward a Ph.D. in Education.
The RD meets the group flight at the airport, provides an on-site orientation, takes you to your program housing, and organizes interesting field studies, volunteer options, extracurricular activities and optional tours.
