Kasbah of the Udayas in Rabat, Morocco.Morocco, located between Europe and Africa, is known for its vibrant markets, medieval and stunning palaces, blue-painted buildings, and sweeping desert dunes. It’s where old traditions and modern life meld together — whether that’s sharing sweet mint tea with friends, hearing a multitude of languages spoken in everyday life, honoring its Muslim roots, or riding Africa’s only high-speed train, Al Boraq, between major cities like Tangier and Casablanca.

Located in North Africa, Morocco is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Algeria to the east, and Mauritania and Mali to the south. While it may look small on a map, it’s actually only slightly smaller than France and larger than California.

Morocco is home to nearly 37 million people, with a population made up of Indigenous Berber (Amazigh), Arab, and Andalusi influences. Moroccan culture reflects a rich blend of African, Mediterranean, Jewish, French, and Spanish traditions — an influence that can be seen in the many languages spoken throughout the country.
