Two people standing in front of traditional Chinese calligraphy art in Shanghai, China.

Shanghai, China is a global economic powerhouse and a key player in international trade, finance, and diplomacy, making it an ideal destination for studying business, economics, entrepreneurship, international relations, and technology. The city is also a trendsetter in design, luxury retail, media, and entertainment, reflecting China’s growing influence on global culture.

Shanghai melds traditional with the future: it’s old-school, with traditional cuisine, opera troupes, tea houses, folk crafts, art museums, and people practicing tai chi or ballroom dancing in the parks, yet it’s also a hip city favored among China's young professionals. With some of the most creative, futuristic skyscrapers, the city remains an architectural mecca while the history and heritage of Shanghai are still readily discoverable.
