Housing options vary per program site. Some locations will offer apartments, homestays, or residence halls. Each programs’ options are explained in detail on the Program Overview portion of this website and will also be included in the Housing Information document on your USAC Student Gateway account.
Most housing accommodations will be arranged within walking distance or a fairly short (up to 45 min) commute by public transportation to school. You are assigned your housing location based on your responses to the Housing Questionnaire you will receive on your USAC Student Gateway. On many programs, you will not know exactly where you are living until you arrive to the program site.
The cost of accommodation is included in most summer program fees. Semester and yearlong program fees do not include housing. If you are participating in a program that does not include housing, you must pay that cost separately.
If you plan to live with a host family, you do not need to supply your own bed linens and towels. If you opt for a shared apartment or a Residence Hall, you may need to supply your own. Bed linens and towels can be bought abroad to save space in packing and to insure you are buying the right size.
You are generally expected to vacate the accommodation the day after final exams are over. Refer to the USAC calendar on the website for the program end date and move out of housing date.
