The Florianópolis program has a Resident Director (RD) who is responsible for the USAC office abroad and overall operations of the program, including securing appropriate student housing, hiring top-level faculty, organizing field trips and optional tours, and overseeing your general well-being.
Florianópolis RD Renato Carvalho has worked for USAC Brazil since January 2013. He joined USAC first as a program assistant and became the RD in 2017. Before that he worked for three years in management consulting and internal audits for Ernst and Young in Brazil. He holds a degree in business administration from UFSC (where our program is based) and an MBA. He has experience studying in the U.S. (California and Texas), and also in Chile and Belgium.
He speaks Portuguese and English fluently, as well as some Spanish and French. Renato will meet the group flight at the airport, provide an on-site orientation, oversee your academic affairs, organize interesting field studies, and accompany you on the optional tours. Renato, as well as all the USAC faculty, look forward to welcoming you to Floripa!
